FAQ

Why is it called Hollywood?

D.W. Griffith created the first movie industry in California in 1887. It was named after its location in Los Angeles, which at the time was known as "Hollywood."

Because it was such a fascinating place, people kept coming back for more. People would come from all over just to see what was happening there.

Hollywood is still a part of our culture today. We have movies. There are also music videos. Commercials. These are all known as Hollywood.

Why are so few independent films ever distributed?

Indie filmmakers tend to assume that distributors will buy their films.

They are certain distributors will take their films, as they know that the public will love them.

However, this is rarely the case. Distributors often take advantage of independent filmmakers.

They will use techniques such as delaying the release of a movie until after the awards season has ended.

They might delay the release of low-budget films until after the summer blockbuster series has begun.

Distributors also try to keep films away from audiences until they've already spent hundreds of dollars on tickets, popcorn, or candy.

They don't want these profits to be lost.

Are Hollywood and Bollywood bigger than Bollywood?

Producers face the greatest challenge of making sure their movie is seen by viewers.

Problem is that many movies are competing for people's money and time. If you don't stand out, your chances of being seen are slim.

But what makes a movie popular? What makes an actor famous? Or a director? It's not just talent - it's also luck. Even if you have the most talented actors in the world they won't be able to make it work if they write bad scripts.

And when it comes to films, there are two main types: big-budget blockbusters and small independent productions. Producing and distributing blockbuster movies can cost hundreds of millions. They are typically made by huge studios who want to ensure that their movies reach a wide audience. But big-budget films appeal more to older audiences.

Independent films can be smaller productions funded by individuals or groups. These films usually target specific markets and appeal to specific tastes. They're usually less expensive to produce and market. They aren't always more affordable to watch, however. In fact, most indie films are very hard to find.

We need both types? Do we need big blockbuster movies and small independent ones? Hollywood is larger than Bollywood, in my opinion. Hollywood produces nearly twice as many movies annually as India.

How many movies makes Hollywood each year?

Hollywood studios produce around 3,000 films per year. It's true, there are three thousand!

These films are marketed by Hollywood, which spends billions of dollars. They spend millions on their production. And they spend millions promoting them. But how many do you think actually end up getting released into theaters?

It is likely that the answer is between 200-300. So what happens to all those other 2,700+ films? The majority of these films are either direct-to video releases or sit in storage.

They are not all destined to be overlooked. Some of these have been selected to be distributed via Netflix, Amazon Prime or Hulu Plus.

We should see more of them. Why aren’t they being shown in theaters instead? They're too costly to produce.

And if they were cheaper to produce, they'd be released into theaters.

This is where I come in. I will help you find the best possible way to release your film in theaters.

I will teach you how to increase your return on investment (ROI), as well as increasing your chances of seeing the movie in theaters.

Let's face it, we all know...

It can be very difficult to get your film in theaters. The process is long, complex and full of legalities.

It might also cost you a lot before you start.

It is even more difficult to distribute your film within a limited timeframe.

There simply isn't enough time between when a film is finished, and its theatrical run begins.

Can I form my own distribution business?

No. A distributor is required to operate a distribution firm.

Even though you might not be distribution films for other people, there are still rules.

You cannot, for instance, charge different prices at different theaters. And you can't charge different fees to different customers.

Your services cannot be sold to any company.

Is the Hollywood Walk of Fame a free thing?

Yes! Yes! However, if you want to take photos, you'll need to get a permit first. It costs $15 per person.

A valid ID is required if you are planning to visit the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

If you are less than 18 years old, you must be accompanied with someone 21 years or older.

The walkway is not open until 10 a.m.

Once inside, you may not leave the walkway without paying again.

Cameras are not permitted inside the walkway.
