How to get a Hollywood Walk of Fame star
The Hollywood Walk of Fame (HWOF) was established in 1960 by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. The HWOF's Los Angeles location is at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard. It is composed of 2,711 stars embedded into sidewalks along Hollywood Boulevard. Each star represents a person who has contributed to television, radio, theatre, music, motion pictures, or any other aspect of popular culture. There are currently 1,922 living persons listed on the HWOF.
To become a HWOF member, you need to submit a name to Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. They then submit your details to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. After being approved, you will be issued a certificate stating your name, date and place of birth. It also includes information about your occupation, occupation and category. A bronze plaque with the name of your choice is included. This plaque is attached directly to the concrete base, in front of designated stars.
If a member of the HWOF has nominated you, or if your contributions are significant to films, television, radio or theatre, or any other part of popular culture, you can apply for a Star. If you were nominated for the first time in 1990, you would owe $15,000.
You can remove yourself from HWOF by contacting the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to pay the rest of your debt. They will take care of removing your name from the list permanently.
How old must one be to get a HWOF star
One needs to be at least 18 years old when being nominated. A person must be present at the time of receiving a star. After receiving a star, one may still be nominated again after ten years.
What happens if I die before my star gets put up?
You can be nominated by your family members to receive a star. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce can place a memorial marker next to the star, if there aren't any living relatives.
