Is Hollywood larger than Bollywood?
Film producers face the greatest challenge: how to get their movie noticed by the audience.
There are so many movies out there competing for your time and money. You won't be noticed if your movie isn't unique.
But what makes a movie popular? What makes an actor a star? Or a director? It's not only talent, but also luck. It doesn't matter if your actors are the best in the world. But a poor script will make you lose everything.
Films can be divided into two categories: blockbuster films with large budgets or independent productions. Production and distribution of blockbuster movies costs hundreds of millions. These blockbuster movies are usually produced by big studios who want their movies to reach as broad an audience as possible. These big-budget movies appeal to older audiences.
Independent films can be smaller productions funded by individuals or groups. These films tend to target niche markets and are tailored to specific tastes. These films are often less expensive to produce or market. But, they aren't necessarily cheaper to view. Many indie films can be difficult to find.
So, the question is, do we need both kinds of films? Are we going to need both big blockbuster movies or small independent films? Hollywood is more important than Bollywood. That's because Hollywood produces almost twice as many movies per year as India does!

How To
How to get a Hollywood Walk of Fame star
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce in 1960 established the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The HWOF can be found at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, California. It is made up of 2,711 stars that are embedded in the Hollywood Boulevard sidewalk. Each star represents someone who made motion pictures, television or radio, as well as music and other aspects of popular culture. The HWOF currently lists 1,922 people.
You will need to submit your application to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce in order to be considered for membership to the HWOF. Once submitted, your name will be sent to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once you are approved, you will receive a certificate of eligibility that includes your name, date, residence, occupation, category, and other information. You also receive a bronze plaque with your name engraved on it. This plaque will be attached to a base of concrete in front the designated star.
If a member of the HWOF has nominated you, or if your contributions are significant to films, television, radio or theatre, or any other part of popular culture, you can apply for a Star. The nominations are evaluated by a committee, which then decides whether or not to approve them. If they do, they will send a letter explaining their decision to the applicant at his/her home address. If the person accepts the nomination, he/she receives a second letter confirming acceptance. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce then charges $25 and forwards the money on to the City of Los Angles Department of Cultural Affairs.
The department issues a cheque payable to the Hollywood Chamber of commerce. It then sends the check the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays any artist or organization that submitted an application. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce receives half of the fee ($12.50). The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs takes the other half.
Once an artist has received their star, he/she is eligible to be listed in the HWOF. To be eligible to list on the HWOF you will need to pay the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce all outstanding balance. The amount due depends upon how many years ago your first nomination was. For example, $15,000. Suppose you were first nominated as a nominee in 1990. You would be responsible for $10,000 if you had been nominated previously in 1980.
If you want to remove yourself from the HWOF, you need to contact the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and pay off the remainder of your debt. They will remove your name permanently from the HWOF list.
How old does one have to get a star on the HWOF?
When nominated, one must have at least 18-years-old. To receive a Star, one must still be living at the time. After receiving a star, one may still be nominated again after ten years.
What happens if I die before my star gets put up?
Family members may nominate you to be a star. If no relatives are living, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce may place a memorial stone in front of your star.
Why can't people choose to use a different street than having stars all over the place?
The HWOF doesn't intend to be historical monument. It honors those who made history through film.
What happened to all the stars stolen? The thieves took approximately 1,200 stars. Each star is between 250-300 lbs. If you add all of the weight together, it comes to approximately 4 tons of stars!
